Chop Chop & Asian Texans For Justice.
MAY 10, 2022

It is still happening. From SF and NYC to Atlanta and Odessa. Acts of violence against the AAPI community have erupted over the last few years. Texas ranks 4th nationwide—tragically high, but not high enough for consistent national coverage, concealing a dangerous undercurrent.

IN A JOINT EFFORT, CHOP CHOP AND ASIAN TEXANS FOR JUSTICE ARE BRINGING TOGETHER RESTAURANTS AND CONTENT CREATORS ACROSS TEXAS, TO HELP RAISE AWARENESS AGAINST THE ACTS OF HATE COMMITTED AGAINST THE ASIAN AMERICAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDER COMMUNITY.

ATJ was founded in 2021 to be a voice for Texas’ diverse Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. The non-profit organization envisions a future where the AAPI community are a visible force in shaping Texas — free from discrimination, marginalization and oppression. ATJ’s mission is to unite the Asian American community, train future leaders and build solidarity across communities to advance equity, social justice and civil rights for all.

To kick off campaign, Chop Chop donated $3000 worth of products to the Central Texas Food Bank which was then distributed to the Asian American Resource Center Mobile Pantry and Gus Garcia Rec Center. ATJ followed with a live video broadcast that answered questions from the community around identity and food.

Restaurants and content creators across Texas then got in on the campaign, with each showcasing their own noodle dish that told its own unique story and reflected their perspectives on the ever-changing Asian American cultural landscape.
